Sam Ewing completed a 24/1 double when the well-backed Ecliptic Moon (4/1) landed the second division of the Hollywoodbets Sponsors The Finishing Line Podcast Handicap.
The Zebedee gelding, a previous course winner at Dundalk last November, was backed from 12/1 this morning and from 13/2 on the show.
He’d been running respectably in his recent starts on turf but clearly enjoyed the return to the polytrack surface.
5lb claimer Ewing, who had earlier won the claimer on Meishar tracked the leaders before asking his mount for more over a furlong out.
Soon in front, Ecliptic Moon stayed on well to score by two and three quarter lengths from Caesar’s Comet (18/1) with the front-running 5/2 favourite Colonel Slade having to settle for third place.
Winning trainer Nigel Slevin said: “He was proving a bit frustrating but Sam has ridden him twice now and won on him twice.
“He’s had a break earlier in the year and we’ll probably keep him on the go. Sam said he’s a proper miler.”
