English raider takes the spoils
Henry Candy’s English raider Amour Propre forged clear in the final furlong to register victory in the five furlong Group 3 Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh.
The winner cut out the pace in a line of three with Roicead and rail-hugging Sole Power but his turn of foot at the business end quickly put the race to bed.
Amour Propre’s SP was 15/8 (from 11/4 in the morning) as he continued a great day for punters. Sole Power at 5/1 (drifter from 10/3 in the morning) pipped Roicead for second by a neck. Roicead was backed into 7/2 from 5/1 on course.
Winning jockey Dane O’Neill said: “His first two runs this year have been very good.
“He has maintained that level of performance. It’s nice to get his head in front again.
“He’s had his problems and Henry has done well to get him back racing of any kind.”
