Elliott doubles up with Eight
Eight Is My Number completed a double on the card for the season's leading trainer Gordon Elliott when just outstaying the odds-on favourite Tom Horn in the Dunderry (Pro-Am) Irish NH Flat Race.
The 8/1 chance was given a strong drive by Jason McKeown, just getting on top in the closing stages to triumph by a length and a half.
The defeat of 9/10 favourite (from 7/4) Tom Horn was the final straw on a miserable afternoon for trainer Noel Meade, who saw the fancied trio Jetson Aitmatov and Prima Vista all crash out earlier in the day while Killeenmore also filled the runner-up spot.
“He could be a horse with a big future especially over fences. To be honest I was just hoping he'd be in the first three today. The owners are from across the water, and he may go next for a novice hurdle at Towcester on December 10,” said Elliott who was saddling his 36th winner of the season in Ireland and also has 28 in the UK.
