Division two of the Buy Online @ Corkracecourse.ie Handicap Hurdle looked a wide open affair beforehand and so it proved as Tristram Shandy defying top-weight in a thrilling finish.
About a length covered six horses over the final flight of this three-mile event, and it was Ryan Treacy’s mount that found most on the run-in.
The Eric McNamara-trained 16/1 chance had half a length to spare at the line, with Pyrford Pippin and the always prominent Naturally Blond dead-heating for second place. Whoyakodding was a further three and a half lengths lengths back in fourth.
McNamara said, "There was a lack of opportunities for this type of horse before Punchestown but he's been a great servant and I'm delighted for his owner Mrs Fox.
"He has ability on his day and loves passing horses. Ryan gave him a super ride and did exactly what I told him.
"I've 6 or 8 in training for the summer and it's great that this came along today."
