Dream debut for Deegan
Richie Deegan (19) from St Mullins, Co. Carlow got his career off to a dream start when on his first ride he confidently guided Theyellowlough to a two and a half length success in division one of the Cork & Waterford Mares Point-to-Point Flat Race.
Racing in the colours of her trainer, Paul Nolan, Theyellowlough got to the front travelling well under a furlong out and she went on to comfortably beat Jinglealltheways
Nolan wasn't present but Aidan 'Scobie' Fitzgerald (former top amateur rider), who trained the daughter of Environment Friend to win a point-to-point for Deegan's father, Andy, explained: "I trained her to win a point-to-point at Dungarvan. I'm not sure what Paul will do with her now, she could be sold.
"Richie walked the track with myself and Paddy Graffin beforehand and he carried out his instructions to a tee."
