Doyenna (6/1) foiled a gamble on So Scottish in the two-mile maiden hurdle.
The latter, sent off 5/6 favourite having been 4/1 this morning, cruised to the front before two out but Doyenna went out after him and got the better jump at the last when coming with her challenge. She stayed on well to grab the favourite close home and win by a head. Ingenious Stroke was eight lengths further back in third.
A grand-daughter of Opera Hat, Doyenna hadn't been worse than fourth in three previous starts and had been third at Clonmel on her previous outing in June.
Kieren Buckley came in for the winning spare ride after Kieran Callaghan had a tumble from Bacardys in the opener.
Winning trainer Lorna Fowler said: "I'm just so happy because Diana Cooper and her daughter Valerie are both here, they own and bred her. I definitely fancied her today. Obviously we had the whole last minute jockey change but Kieren gave her a beautiful ride and got a real tune out of her. She was so tough and was nailed on for today so it's brilliant.
"I haven't really thought about plans beyond today. She had everything in her favour, she ran here before and ran well."
