Double for O'Brien as Apache takes last
Apache took the last race on the card, the Leopardstown Family Fun Day Maiden, as he was expected to, running out an easy five and a half length winner.
Ridden by Joseph O’Brien and trained by his father Aidan, the son of Galileo was sent off the 4/7fav and he made smooth progress to ease past the front-running Long Journey Home over a furlong out before racing clear.
The aforementioned, second favourite at 5/1, Long Journey Home kept going to take second while Red Calima fared best of the rest a further four lengths back in third.
This was the son of Galileo’s fourth career start having being placed on his debut at the Curragh late last season before finishing second and third respectively over the course and again at the Curragh on his last start just last Sunday.
