After his eight winners at the Galway Festival, Donnacha O’Brien was back amongst the winners at Naas as Harpocrates (11/4) landed the Naas Family Fun Day 2-y-o Race.
The Invincible Spirit colt has kept good company all season, twice finishing behind Phoenix Stakes contender Siskin and also running fifth in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot behind the outstanding Pinatubo.
He was prominent throughout and dug deep inside the final furlong to beat Geometrical (20/1) and Pronouncement (10/1) by half-a-length and the same.
The 6/4 favourite Peace Charter didn’t pick up in the final quarter-mile and finished fourth.
Donnacha O’Brien, riding the winner for his father Aidan, said: “He stuck his head out when I got stuck into him, and he’ll be better going another furlong. Hopefully he’s improving.”
