A quirky sort he may be, but no doubt Tom McCourt wouldn't mind a few more like Dollar Value who recorded his ninth victory for the Stamullen handler when trouncing his rivals in the D H Handicap Chase.
The 6/5 favourite winged fences for Keith Donoghue who let him stride on in front with over a circuit to race and it was 'bar a fall' from a long way out. Twenty-nine lengths was the margin of victory with Joeswayornoway filling the runner-up spot.
Tom McCourt said: "He probably should have hacked up the last day (third over hurdles to earlier winner Uhtred here). It was a bit of an enterprising ride by Danny, but it didn't pay off really. Around here, you can't give away that kind of ground probably. He tried and if he won it was a bright thing to do. It is one of those things, it didn't work.
"He's a right horse on his day. He behaved himself at the start today. I'm just trying to keep him to smaller fields at the minute. You have less hassle at the start.
"I'd love to go for a good race with him, we are going to have to now. He's going to go up a fair bit over fences. He was well handicapped compared to his hurdle mark. He's the type of horse you are just taking day by day.
"I knew this was coming up and he loves up and down those hills. That's only his second run over fences in two years. Keith said he was deadly over them.
"I'll have to sit down and have a look and go for something half decent now over fences or hurdles. I think he will be well able to compete."
