Eleven year old Days Hotel claimed a third renewal of the Grade 2 Paddy Power Over 260 Shops Nationwide Chase at Naas today, winning for trainer Henry De Bromhead and jockey Andrew Lynch.
The son of Oscar made all for his comfortable seven and a half lengths win over Twinlight
Days Hotel, now a five time Grade 2 winner, is unbeaten at this venue and in this race, having previously won the 2013 and 2014 renewals and following the win, De Bromhead stated “he's a very good horse on his day when conditions are right and that's the third time he's won this and he also won a Hilly Way on bottomless ground.
“He just loves that ground and the bare two miles suits him down to the ground. The 2m1f races earlier in the year were just catching him out in the last furlong.
“He had a terrible problem last year so it's great to have him back and the Treacy's (owners) have been very patient so it's great for both them and him.”
“He didn't jump as well today but he got away with it and I'd imagine he'll go to Fairyhouse (Normans Grove) next.”
