Bog War gained a maiden success in the Winter Series At Dundalk 2014 Apprentice Handicap (div 2) at Dundalk this evening, winning for trainer Liam Cusack and jockey Leigh Roche.
The winner battled well in the closing stages to edge ahead of well supported 2/1 favourite Settle For Red by a head.
Afterwards Cusack stated “I fancied him a bit the last day but he ran a shade flat; he didn't get the best of runs and had nothing to race with up the straight then.
“He travelled and battled well today when he had to. He needs to fill into himself a bit more but there are a few races for him in January.”
