Two of the best fancied runners fought out the finish of split one of the Matthews.ie Trip To Cheltenham 2018 Handicap. Joint favourite Bog War (7/2) was the one to emerge on top at Dundalk.
Liam Cusack 's charge didn't have things easy as Glib Speech (13/2 into 5/1) pushed him all the way. Half a length split them at the line.
These two could be worth following as they stretched on by three and a half lengths from the third home, Getgo
"He had a nice run here the last day and I'd say he came on from it, it just sharpened him a bit," said Cusack on the former Punchestown and Galway festival scorer.
"You have to credit the handicapper because he dropped him, it's a long time since he won.
"Sean (Corby) have him a lovely ride, he got a lovely position and was in a nice position throughout. He was able to go forward and it worked out well.
"We'll see what the handicapper does and there is a race back here in February, provided he comes out of it alright.
"It's great for the lads and fair play to them as they've stuck by him. He's had niggly problems and had a fractured splint bone."
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Marino Marvel trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
