Curtis gets the Max out of Mo
Maximo overcame an 11 month lay-off to take the extended ten furlong handicap for Tom McCourt and joint champion apprentice Ben Curtis.
Curtis sent the 9/2 co favourite of four to the front entering the straight, and he kept on well under pressure to beat Rock Medley (9/2) by a length and a quarter with Blue Ridge Lane (8/1) third.
Tom McCourt said: “He's had bits of problems including leg trouble. He'll get a mile and a half no problem, and in fact I was going to run him over 1m6f at Leopardstown on Sunday but decided to come here. Ben gave him a good positive ride and knows him well. He's handicapped over hurdles but will stick to the Flat.”
