Amanaat was the second well backed winner of the evening at Dundalk today as the Denis Hogan trained gelding improved jockey Shane Crosse's excellent recent spell when winning the Dundalk - Light Up Your Night Handicap.
Backed from 7/1 in to 4/1 on track, the five year old eventually arrived with a well timed challenge to beat Geological by a neck.
The winner carries the colours of James McAuley and following the race Crosse stated “I’m delighted as this horse has been banging on the door the last few weeks and it’s great to get his head in front.
“Just getting the knack of him is the thing. He got there easy but he only won by what he needed to. Hopefully he can get a bit of confidence from that and keep going.”
The win moves Champion Apprentice Crosse to the six winner mark for the Winter Series at Dundalk, which is already four winners clear of his nearest pursuer Conor Hoban.
