Courage Under Fire a 105-rated and Group 1 placed son of War Front, got off the mark at the sixth attempt when victorious in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Maiden at Naas.
Donnacha O'Brien rode the Ballydoyle-trained 9/10 chance for his father Aidan, and Courage Under Fire made most for a half a length win over Porto Ferro
Porto Ferro kept on well in the closing stages without matching Courage Under Fire.
"He was entitled to do that off his rating. He was probably a little bit lazy in front and faster ground would help him," said the winning rider.
"An extra furlong would be no problem at all. Seven probably stretched him in England."
