Cloone Rockets to Slan Abhaile win
Cloone Rocket (11/2 this morning into 5/2 favourite), one of two well-backed horses for the concluding Listowel Races Supporters Club Slan Abhaile in the face of negative market vibes for Pittoni landed the mile and six furlong contest by an easy seven lengths.
Nina Carberry rode the Charlie Swan-trained gelding, who took over from the clear pace-setter Leanne early in the straight and he was soon clear himself on the way to seeing off Mr Clyde (the other well-backed horse) with the aforementioned Leanne fading back into third. Pittoni meanwhile stayed on in eye-catching fashion for fourth under Derek Fox.
Sligo man Fox has just one winner under his belt to date – that being Mighty Whitey at Sligo back in May. Charles Byrnes, Pittoni's trainer was interviewed by the stewards afterwards. More to follow.
