Useful hurdles performer Clarach looked 'well-in' for her Flat handicap debut in the Follow Tramore On Facebook Handicap at Tramore today and duly scored under a typically confident ride from Danny Mullins.
Mullins sat motionless for almost all of the race, moving to the front over a furlong out before asking his mount to ease clear inside the final furlong, for an easy six and a half lengths win over Hangar Five
The winner is trained by the jockey's father Tony Mullins who later stated “I think Clarach is a better mare this year and I wanted to win a Flat race with her for her broodmare status.
“The Galway Hurdle is the main aim for her now and whether she'll run before then, will depend on her. I think she'll get in off bottom weight in the Galway Hurdle, she a track winner and while she travels very well in her races, she sometimes can empty when she gets there.”
