The John Berry trained Civena caused a 16/1 upset to win the E10 Admission All Non Festival Racedays Handicap Hurdle at Punchestown today, winning under former Champion Jockey Paul Townend.
The daughter of Oscar was produced by Townend to lead entering the straight and stayed on in the closing stages to hold the challenge of 7/2f Rawnaq
Afterwards Berry stated “the ground slowed the rest of them down a bit as she jumps and really gallops.
“She has won a point to point and will eventually go chasing but maybe not this year. She'll make a good mares' chaser next year and the further the better for her.”
