Castle Anshan takes Fairyhouse opener
Castle Anshan owned/trained and bred by Cork handler, Tenence O'Brien was the one for money in the shops this morning for the Fairyhouse Membership 2010 Maiden Hurdle and the early birds were proved correct as Paddy Flood landed the spoils on the 9/2 shot.
The Anshan gelding was a definite leader from three out and he stayed on well up the straight to keep Cool Dude Luke at bay by two lengths.
Gamble of this two and a quarter mile contest was Mickey Blue Eyes He made a mistake at the sixth and the 7/2 in the morning into 6/4 favourite eventually pulled up before the second last. He was found to have burst blood vessels post race.
Terence O'Brien has enjoyed considerable success at Fairyhouse as East Beach and Cool Quest have also won here for him.
