Desperate Manchester United fans may have taken some solace from Fergiethelegend s win in the Kildare Post Handicap Chase at Naas today as the John Carr trained gelding landed a gamble under jockey Jack Kennedy.
The son of Flying Legend, backed from 25/1 this morning (minus two small 'rule 4s') before going off an 8/1 shot, stayed on strongly in the home straight and in the end had 17 lengths to spare over Tooreen
Afterwards Champion Hurdle winning trainer Carr stated “that's great, he won well and the light weight on the soft ground was the key.
“We'll try and find something similar for him and there could be a race back here for him in a few weeks time.”
