Cappa gets a bit of luck in claimer

John Feane had two runners in the Dundalk Stadium Claiming Race. His Cappadocia (8/1) led the way home in the ten runner event as stable companion Soul Brother (7/4 favourite) finished fifth.
The patiently ridden Soul Brother could never get on terms with the principals, but Cappadocia, not un-supported this morning, was never that far away under Ronan Whelan (put up a pound over-weight at eight stone ten).
The 53-rated victor was switched left and ridden in fifth over a furlong out. Cappadocia then kept on well to lead in the closing stages for a neck success over the front-running Dance Alone
Feane said afterwards: "I'm not that surprised as he should have won about three times this year and was unlucky at Fairyhouse. He just needs things to fall right, and the race opened up well for him."
There were no claims lodged for anything in the field.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Soul Brother, trained by John James Feane, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame post race, having lost a shoe in running(samples taken for analysis).
