Cahernaun scores handicap win
Dessie Hughes’ horses have been quieter than usual this winter but his Cahernaun (8/1) was the trainer’s second winner of the new year when winning the Costa Coffee Dock Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse today.
Ridden by stable jockey Bryan Cooper, the daughter of Milan proved too strong for one-time high class Flat performer Table Mountain on the run-in to score by three lengths.
Afterwards Hughes said “I was disappointed with her at Limerick when I fancied her but she ran lifeless.
“She just stays and hopefully can win a couple of these handicaps. She handled the ground today which is a help. I blamed the ground at Limerick but I can’t blame it today as she won!”
