Cadmium completed a double on the evening for champion trainer Willie Mullins when landing the odds in the Ladies Day At Roscommon On Monday July 9 Novice Chase.
The Supreme Horse Racing Club’s gelding won a valuable handicap on his previous start at the Punchestown Festival, and Danny Mullins was again in the saddle.
The French-bred was sent off the 4/6 favourite, and led before the penultimate fence before going on to beat chief market rival Le Martalin by two and three quarter lengths. The Last Marju who lost the lead when blundering at halfway causing Jody McGarvey to ride with just one iron for a while, eventually finished eight lengths back in third.
Danny Mullins said, "It was a good performance and it was a nice bit of placing by Willie. They needed every bit of water they had on the ground here this evening but he got away with it and won nicely."
The champion trainer was on the mark earlier with Causey Arch (5/1), and is already on the 30 winner mark after just over six weeks of the new season.
