Byrnes sends strong team of five up to Downpatrick

There are two Irish meetings today with Downpatrick hosting an afternoon card beginning at 2.05 while there is also jumping action at Ballinrobe this evening with the first going to post at 4.30.
Charles Byrnes sends a strong raiding party north to Downpatrick and all five of his runners, each ridden by his son Philip, are towards the head of the market.
Following 5mm of rain, the going at Downpatrick remains good, good to yielding in places. The forecast is mainly dry with the chance of a passing shower.
The 2m6f handicap hurdle has been divided at Ballinrobe to form an eight-race card, while Mt Leinster and Visionarian both performed well at Galway and now go head-to-head in the BoyleSports Chase (7.05).
Gordon Elliott has enjoyed a fruitful spell in recent weeks and looks to hold strong claims with Samui in the featured Hollymount Nursing Home Handicap Hurdle (5.05).
The going at the western venue is yielding, yielding to soft in places, following 7mm of rain in the past 48 hours.
The forecast is mainly dry with the possibility of some light drizzle later this evening.
