By Your Side gained a deserved victory when just getting up close home to take the Join The Naas Racecourse Business Club Maiden Hurdle.
The Lope De Vega gelding won three times on the Flat for Ed Dunlop last year and was unlucky a few times since sent over hurdles including twice making mistakes at the last at this venue.
Michael O’Sullivan gave the 6/4 chance a patient ride and waited until the run-in before asking for an effort, getting up close home to pip 11/8 favourite The Lovely Man by a short-head.
Winning trainer Gordon Elliott said, “He’s been knocking on the door and it’s great for Kieron (Gammell, owner) as he lives local and will get a great kick out of that.
“He gave it a peach of a ride and he jumped better today. He’ll probably go for a handicap at one of the Festivals and he might win a Flat race as well.”
