Aslukwoodhavit (7/4f) swerved bigger names but faced more experienced rivals on chase debut in Punchestown's Ladbrokes Fanzone Rated Novice Chase today, and won comfortably for trainer Henry De Bromhead and jockey Rachael Blackmore.
Targets for Aslukwoodhavit would have included Saturday's Navan beginners chase featuring stablemate Inthepocket and Facile Vega but had his sights lowered to today's race, which was confined to horses rated 123-or-less, either over fences or hurdles.
The homebred son of owner Roger Brookhouse's stallion Yorgunnabelucky today jumped well, led at the second-last and easily beat Bleu D'enfer by four lengths.
De Bromhead reported “the way beginners’ chases are at the moment it looked a good opportunity. Even though he lacked a bit of experience, he didn’t show it there and jumped really well.
“I’m delighted to get it for Roger. It’s his stallion as well so it’s great. We’ll see were we go from here and may see what the handicapper thinks.”
