Brook times it right in tight finish

The Friday Evening Racing Handicap provided a tremendous finish, with General Brook just coming out on top in a three-way photo to the ten-furlong event at Cork.
The David Wachman-trained gelding travelled as well as anything early in the straight but Wayne Lordan needed to get serious inside the final furlong as a number of rivals threw down strong challenges.
The 9/2 chance just had his head down at the right time as they hit the line, and the photo-finish camera showed he’d prevailed by a short-head over Einsteins Folly Shalaman also held every chance and was the same distance away in third.
Einsteins Folly could be termed a shade unlucky as he lost a number of lengths when slowly away from stalls.
Wachman said, “Wayne was good on him. We’re starting to run him over the right trip. He won over shorter before and I think he could go further again.
“Hopefully he’ll stay on an upward curve, and he’s adaptable ground wise. He’s a nice fun horse.”
