Raiding British trainer Mark Johnston made it 8 wins from 29 runner at Dundalk when his Van Ellis (1/3f) made all for an easy win in the iRadio iWork (C & G) Maiden this evening.
Ridden by Fran Berry, the heavily backed 'jolly' (4/5 early this morning) broke well from his outside draw and stayed on strongly in the straight for an easy length and three parts win over That Boy David
Johnston was not present but Berry did later say “we said we would ride Van Ellis as we found him and he broke very well, settled down and had his ears pricked.
“He quickened well from three furlongs out and I was surprised Johnny (Murtagh, on runner-up That Boy David) was within two lengths of me at the end. There'a a lot more improvement to come and he had a good blow afterwards.”
