Machnamh (14/1) made a winning all-weather debut this evening, landing Dundalk's concluding Dundalk Stadium Handicap for trainer/breeder Jim Bolger, his wife owner Jackie Bolger and jockey Rory Cleary.
Machnamh, translated to 'reflection' in Irish, raced with the pace and while strongly pressed in the home straight, battled well to beat Ninth Life
Bolger's travelling head man Ger Flynn reported “she's been running consistently and has only been beaten four or five lengths in all her starts. She's a genuine filly, tries hard and she's just been running into one.
“The boss saw an opportunity here over 1m2f and we thought we'd see if she'd handle the surface. Rory said she handled the surface really well and we'll probably come back up here again for something similar in the next couple of weeks.”
