"That was great. I was feeling the pressure a bit because I changed his training completely even though he won the last day," disclosed Johnny Levins after his Burn The Boats ran clean away with the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Claiming Race at Dundalk.
Donagh O'Connor did the steering on the David Spratt-owned eight-year-old and he took over from Elusive In Paris a furlong and a half out before asserting away from the favourite by five and a half lengths.
"We left him very very fresh for today. Thankfully I'm training for a gentleman and he allowed me to get him beat today if I had gotten it wrong," further explained Levins.
"I warned him that I had changed the training and he was probably coming here 15 kilo heavier than when he last won. Because he was thriving I didn't want to interfere with his training.
"It worked out and maybe I'm figuring him out a little bit more and there is more improvement in him.
"I can't wait to get him on the turf as I think he might be a bit better with a bit of juice in the ground."
Burn The Boats was later claimed by James Mescall to be trained by John Feane.
