Blues gives Jones 50th winner
Red Army Blues gained his revenge on Expire when just pipping that rival in the five-furlong handicap at Bellewstown.
Well backed 11/4 favourite Expire (from 7/2) attempted to make all in the dash but was strongly pressed in the final furlong.
Red Army Blues finished best, under Keagan Latham, to just get his head in front where it mattered for a short-head success.
Expire had been a cosy winner when the pair met at Naas in a maiden nine days ago but the 11lb pull in the weights made all the difference today for Ger Lyons' charge.
"You need experience here as it's a quick five furlongs. He's really a six-furlong horse," said Lyons.
"He's now a mentally different horse than the one that was running at Dundalk earlier in the season.
"He was running his races too quick then and we weren't sure what kind of horse he would make.
"Now it looks like he is a sprinter and he did a professional job today.
"It's an important winner for owner Sean Jones as it's his 50th winner."
