The Frank McGuinness trained Blazing Beacon defied his 14 years under top weight to win the Coral.ie Download The App Handicap Chase at Limerick today.
Ridden by Conor Maxwell, the son of Luso scored a sixth career win when beating Line View by three parts of a length.
A delighted McGuinness later stated “I thought we'd never get back to the winners' enclosure again as it's been a while!
“He's been a great horse and was once rated in the 130s. He's hard to keep right but actually hasn't much mileage and is a good, genuine horse. He'll be kept on the go for the summer and likes this ground.”
Blazing Beacon's previous win came in a handicap chase in March 2013.
