- Birthday Success for Brindley
Birthday Success for Brindley
Ireland's Call a six time winner on the level in his days with Peter Casey, benefited from Valain s final flight mistake to make the breakthrough over hurdles for Philip Rothwell in the Tote Ireland Hurdle.
This was a most timely success from the King's Theatre grey as he was scoring on the 82nd birthday of his owner, Basil Brindley.
It has been a good week for the owner of Rathbeggan House Stud as Vaporetto also trained by Rothwell won at Ballinrobe on Monday. By coincidence that one is a grey too and was 10/1 also.
Cork rider, Donal MacAuley did the steering on Ireland's Call. The favourite, Dbest made the running until headed away from three out eventually dropping to sixth whilst Emmpat ran out at the third and Come Back To Me slipped up entering the straight.
