Beacon shows the way in fog
The Frank McGuinness trained Blazing Beacon became the third locally trained winner of the day at Wexford today, making all under Eddie O’Connell, in thick fog, to win the Casey Precast Chase.
Afterwards McGuinnes, who is based at Blackwater, said “It’s great to get a win on home ground!
“I don’t train for anyone else, and all of mine are home-breds - I have six horses in at the moment and have this fellow’s half brother by Pierre still to come.
“Blazing Beacon will go for a novice next and try to get some blacktype into him – he just missed out on it at Punchestown the last day.
“He is a good ground horse but it wasn’t too bad out there today especially as his race was the first race run on the chase track. He also had to make the running, which wasn’t ideal, but he is a particularly good jumper.”
