Harry's Bar notched his third win at Dundalk since joining Ado McGuinness when running out a decisive winner of the opening Betvictor Race at the venue this afternoon.
After missing the kick slightly the Exceed And Excel gelding was held up by Wayne Lordan in the five furlong contest before making up ground on the inner early in the straight.
The 7/4 shot hit the front over a furlong from home and kept on well in the closing stages to post a length-and-three-quarters verdict over 6/4 favourite The Highway Rat
The Group 3 Mercury Stakes, on October 22nd, is next on the agenda for the winner.
Assistant trainer Stephen Thorne said:- “We've always thought a lot of him since we bought him and he's a high class horse up here on this surface.
“We've been eyeing this race up for quite a while. We're thrilled to get this on the board and it's being used as a prep run for the Mercury Stakes here at the end of the month.
“He's been a great fun for the syndicate and a high profile horse for them. Ado has done a great job with him as well as the whole team at home.
“It's a big weekend us for us as we have two Group 1 runners in France and we got it off to a good start anyway.”
