Banimpire proves tough again
Banimpire emerged on top in a competitive renewal of the Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes at Gowran Park.
Kevin Manning produced his mount to claim the front-running Barring Decree a furlong out but she had to work hard with plenty throwing down challenges. Wild Wind pressed her hardest and just gave way by a neck at the line with Barring Decree sticking on well, just a short-head back in third.
A stewards enquiry was called after they came close in the closing stages but the result remained the same.
Banimpire had also recorded a battling success on her last start in the Ballysax Stakes and is to be aimed at another Group Three contest.
"The Blue Wind Stakes at Naas over 1m2f is probably next on the agenda and we'll take it from there," said Bolger's travelling head lad Ger Flynn after getting off the phone to his boss.
"She's entered in all the Guineas and Oaks but it'll be Naas first."
