Ballydoyle's Wings wins under McNamara

As things ticked over nicely at York with a one two in today's Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks, Ballydoyle secured a domestic win at Killarney in the opening Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Median Auction Maiden. Emmet McNamara brought the Pour Moi colt Wings Of Eagles (100/30 into 5/2 on track) home in front here.
John Oxx 's Birds Of Prey went off a shade of odds-on, but he couldn't cope with the Galway festival 'also ran' Wings Of Eagles, who edged the battle a hundred yards out for a length and a quarter verdict.
"He's green and will improve again. He was extremely green on his debut at Galway and it's a very difficult track for a two year old to go first time out and Seamie (Heffernan) educated him lovely and he came forward plenty," said McNamara.
"Aidan was hopeful that stepping him up to a mile here would suit him and it worked out that way. The second (Birds of Prey) had a bit of form and hopefully he'll improve again."
