The Aidan O'Brien trained Easter Lily gained a valuable black-type success at Naas this evening when causing a 16/1 upset in the featured Listed Irish EBF Naas Oaks Trial.
Ridden by Wayne Lordan, the daughter of Galileo was today gaining her first success since a maiden win last July and beat previous Listed Stakes winner Mary Tudor by a length.
Champion Trainer O'Brien was completing a double on the day having won the opener with Secret Thoughts and afterwards Lordan said “she's been running at Listed and Group 3 level and running okay. Today worked out well as I was able to go down through them.
“She doesn't do a whole pile when she gets there so going down through them was a big help. She's genuine and tough.
When asked it if it was a surprise he added “not really, she works nice at home and she's been running well, as I said. They all have their turn and today was her turn."
The winner holds an entry in the Irish Oaks and Lordan said “she's been busy all year and she may as well keep going now.”
