Ardglen sees it out best for Hanlon & Cullen
Ardglen put up a stamina-laden display to land the Ryans Event Cleaners Handicap Hurdle at Limerick under Johnny Cullen.
The victorious son of Bach led from the sixth and he stayed on well in the straight to see off the well-fancied favourite Trendelenburg by four lengths.
The John 'Shark' Hanlon-trained Ardglen was the subject of a gamble himself last time at Cork (20/1 into 13/2) when disappointing but first-time cheek-pieces and a step-up in distance helped here.
Sean McGuirk, a friend of the owner, Neville Eager, said: "The owner is in Florida. We fancied him the last day on his first handicap start. The cheek-pieces and the step-up in trip made the difference today."
