Lady Aoife posted a surprise 22/1 victory in the concluding race of the season at Roscommon, the Oran Flat Race.
Harley Dunne rode the victorious Beneficial mare and she came out on top by a length and three parts from Kilkishen Hickson the 11/8 favourite, had every chance in the final furlong but he went wrong and eventually crossed the line a length and three parts adrift in third.
Winning trainer Andy Slattery said: "She'll be a better mare over hurdles. She ran in two very messy bumpers and she's a good staying mare for the likes of two and a half miles.
"She'll go over hurdles now and she jumps well. She's improving with every run. She'd like nice ground and we'll run her in a maiden hurdle in a couple of weeks and we'll see if we'll finish up after that.
"She's a half-sister to Quintana and she cost six grand at the sales. She's belonging to my father and mother." (DM & EM)
