In a campaign when Sheikh Mohammed has reportedly increased his interest in Jim Bolger's yard five-fold with fifteen two-year-olds, the famous maroon and white were carried to success in the finale on the opening day at the Curragh, by three-year-old Answered in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden.
The Kevin Manning-ridden well-touted first-time out son of Authorized led two furlongs out and he stayed on well in the final furlong to beat Onenightidreamed by two lengths. Belisarius was the one for money 'in the ring' but he couldn't even make the frame and had to 'make do' with fourth place.
Bolger stated: "He had a bit of a setback last September and we just missed getting him out last backend.
"I'm hoping he'll be back here in May (the Guineas) and he'll go for a Guineas trial."
John Ferguson had said back in January: "I can confirm Darley is sending more yearlings to Jim Bolger who has done very well for us in the past. Sheikh Mohammed is keen to show his support for Jim and Irish racing." (AM & EM)
