- Another Lenebane for Oxx
Another Lenebane for Oxx
Backed from odds against this morning into 4/5, Karasiyra landed the Listed Lenebane Stakes by the minimum margin under Niall McCullagh to give trainer John Oxx and the Aga Khan a third successive victory in Roscommon's most prestigious race of the year.
The chestnut daughter of Alhaarth made all and try as Sense Of Purpose might, she couldn't quite bridge the gap, Keagan Latham just being denied on his first ride for Dermot Weld.
'Slim' O'Neill representing Oxx said: "It's hard to make all and she is a lazy filly that will never win by far, she just does enough. The Galtres at York could be a target now. We had cheek-pieces on her before and they could go back on again even though in fairness to her she is a good honest filly that gallops away. She just doesn't kill herself.
"It's great for Niall (70 rides and 71 days without a winner), he is off the cold-jockeys list."
McCullagh got a bang in the face from Karasiyra pulling-up. He felt dizzy coming back in and his ride in the next, Belfiore was withdrawn as no other suitable rider was available.
