An Mhi scores for footballing legend
Leigh Roche, fresh from his recent Galway Festival winner, partnered An Mhi to a comfortable win of the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap at Tipperary, carrying the colours of Patricia Cunningham, wife of former Meath footballing great Bertie Cunningham.
Afterwards Morgan reported “that win was a long time coming for An Mhi, as we bought him as a yearling and he has been hard to keep sound. He has always shown nice potential though and hopefully he’ll win another handicap.”
An Mhi, translated to ‘Meath’ in Irish, is partially owned by Patricia Cunningham, whose husband Bertie Cunningham won a footballing All-Ireland title with Meath in 1967 and was also named Footballer of the Year that year.
