Ally Cay was a clear winner of division one of Rosocmmon's extended mile and a quarter handicap, on her first start for John McConnell.
The race developed inside the final quarter of a mile as Overheer and Ally Cay moved to the head of affairs.
They were clear of the remainder racing to the final furlong and it was Ally Cay (22/1) who began to get her head in front. She powered away in the final 150 yards to clinch the verdict by two and three quarter lengths.
Runner-up Overheer was 7/2 joint favourite and seven and a half lengths in front of the other 7/2 joint favourite Loudest Whisper
John McConnell said: “I’m delighted for the owner who gave her to me to have a go with. I’ve had her about eight or ten weeks, not long enough to ruin her, and she’s been absolutely straightforward for us.
“She’d worked well and my only doubt was whether she would do on the track as she does at home.
“It probably wasn’t the greatest of races but a win is a win. She can jump hurdles as well.
“She has schooled so that’s an option and she handles cut in the ground as well.”
Ally Cay's other carer success came in Bellewstown last summer for Gavin Cromwell.
This was jockey Shane Foley's 16th winner of the last two weeks.
