Akdarena sees it out best
As a daughter of Hernando it wasn't surprising to see Akdarena relish the step-up in distance for the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden and she saw out the mile and one hundred yard trip best to prevail by a neck from Saajidah Kevin Manning was the successful pilot.
Flashing her tail as she had done on her two previous starts as well, Akdarena, a 7/1 chance in a market dominated by Saajidah and Black Eyed Susan got on top in the closing stages to see off that pair by a neck and a half a length.
Ger Flynn, representing winning trainer, Jim Bolger, said: "She stayed well and Kevin was very happy with her. She has swished her tail since the day she was broken but she is genuine. She is likely to step-up in grade now and she'll get further."
