Across The Bay completes Meade's double
Noel Meade completed a double at Leopardstown today when his Across The Bay bounced back to winning ways when causing a 20/1 upset in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier).
Across The Bay, under Davy Condon, eventually proved a length and three parts too strong for Son Amix and Meade subsequently stated “Across The Bay had been running over fences and seemed to lose his bottle for chasing.”
He added “every time he ran in chases I fancied him because he works so well but he was pulled up at halfway in the Paddy Power Chase. Today though, after he jumped the second hurdle, he seemed to prick his ears and say to himself ‘these aren’t too big!’ and away he went! We’ll aim him at the Pertemps Final now.”
