Target Acquired could make a quick reappearance at Galway on Monday after coming out best in an exciting finish to the Now Is A Good Time Handicap at Down Royal.
Chris Hayes elected to force the pace in the seven-furlong event but he appeared to have an uphill task as top-weight Toccata Blue threw down a strong challenge at the furlong pole.
However Andy Oliver’s charge dug deep inside the final 100 yards and had a head to spare at the line. Almadaa was a further length and three quarters back in third.
Oliver said, “His form has been working out pretty solid and he’s versatile in terms of ground and trip. I thought the seven furlongs here might be a bit quick but Chris gave him a good positive ride.
“He’s entered at Galway on Monday and the plan is to run there under a penalty.”
