584/1 Curragh treble for Whelan
Stellar Mass and Ronan Whelan win the finale at the Curragh

Ronan Whelan won't forget Epsom Derby Day 2016 in a hurry, as he booted home a 584/1 treble at the Curragh, completed on Jim Bolger's Stellar Mass in the concluding TRM Invest In Calphormin Maiden.
Bolger had been on the mark half-an-hour earlier himself with the Rory Cleary-partnered Qatari Hunter and Whelan had combined with Johnny Levins and Mick Channon respectively, for successes elsewhere on the programme, with Your Pal Tal and Divine
Whelan had a four-timer in the past at Wexford, where unfortunately Flat racing is no more, and here the former champion apprentice timed things to perfection to get Stellar Mass home by half a length from Sandstorming
"He deserves that. The step up in trip and the ground was a big help to him," said Whelan.
"It's been a great night and to get a Group winner as well - I can't complain. That's my first treble although I have had a four-timer before."
Julie Burke, rider of Duffys All Set trained by John M.Burke, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount jinked unseating her after leaving the stalls.
