Roc 'n Rothwell win festival opener
Paddy has been lucky for me and that's his second winner in the last few months and I've tried to support him. we've been really happy with this horse; he won very well in Navan and then we tried him over 2m4f in Fairyhouse and it was arguable whether he didn't get the trip there or ran too keen. Michael Carthy heads up the (Roc Racing) syndicate and every horse they've had with me has won. This fella has been great this year. I'm absolutely thrilled. We have three runners today but I don't have a huge number for the week.

Echoes In Rain wins Champion Novice Hurdle
it's a great start for Patrick and for the winning connections Barnane Stud. She's a filly that is improving as she learns about racing. She just made one mistake with Patrick. He sort of blamed himself but he didn't want to jump it as well as she was setting herself to jump it because she was going to land there too soon so he let her fiddle it. She's a filly that's now after winning at the top class and hopefully that's where she'll stay for the next couple of years. She could run on the Flat but it's taken us two years now to settle her down so I doubt that I'd run her on the Flat. I'd say we'll just stick to this jumping game. She's learning how to pace herself jumping now and you'd have to be happy with that.

Townend wins fitness battle & Champion Chase
At the back of every fence I was able to get a breather, he was jumping so well. The only reason we don't wear these boots normally is for weight and I'd like to thank everyone and a lot of people did a lot of hard work to get me back. I think they were just on song today, both himself and Paul. They gave an exhibition of jumping and racing. He just had horses out of their comfort zone from very early on.

Five-timer for Mullins with retiring Colreevy
the Flynns (owners) are committed breeders and will have as much fun watching her in the paddocks with her foals in the coming years as they would racing. on ratings she was the best treated today and I think obviously Envoi Allen is not right and Monkfish probably didn't run his true race and she did. She ran a true race and probably even ran a better race than at Cheltenham. It was a nice send off for her and fabulous for the Flynns and fabulous for Danny as well.

Rothwell double as Banjo banks the Ladies Cup
today is wonderful but I don't think I'll be vying for champion trainer at the end of the week! I might not even have another runner. I very much enjoy this and you'd think there was a crowd around me with the roars up in the stands. I absolutely love it and that's why I'm doing it.

'Crazy idea' pays off for Emmet Mullins
it's been a long road and it's finally paid off for me. We bought him in Japan as a foal four years ago. It was one of my crazier ideas - we bought three horses the same day, him and Fujimoto Flyer were two of them so we had a good trip. He's a tough hardy horse. We were just a little worried about the ground with the rain, being Japanese bred. Once they had a couple of races on it and had a few showers it was going to get into it. Philip was very good, I told him to take his time and drop him in and pick the best of the ground. I know Patrick (Mullins, on runner-up Hara Kiri) came wide for ground but in these four-year-old races Philip got the rail and that's a huge advantage for four-year-olds at this time of year.
