Dermot Weld feels Pale Mimosa is a filly with a bright future after she got off the mark in the mile-and-a-half maiden at Galway this evening.
The 4/6 favourite justified her short price in style as she disposed of her field with the utmost of ease.
Pat Smullen went on from long-time leader Buckingham Gate with over two furlongs to race and the contest was soon sealed.
The Singspiel filly galloped on strongly in the closing stages to post an impressive 15-length success over the front-runner.
The winner had shaped with plenty of promise on her sole previous start when fourth at Cork last October.
"She's a lovely mare. I've been waiting all year for a nice bit of ground with her!" revealed Weld.
"She's a big staying mare and loves to gallop. She'll appreciate much better ground as she's a good mover.
"It shows that if they're good enough they'll win on anything. My only concern was the testing conditions.
"It probably wasn't the strongest contest but all she can do is win. There is lots to look forward to and she'll probably go to the Galtres Stakes at York next."
It was a double on the night for both Weld and Smullen after Muaanid had made a winning debut earlier in the two-year-old maiden. Weld moved to eight for the week.
